Fun also means socializing… and to socialize there is nothing better than spending the evenings out with friends, perhaps sipping a nice cocktail. If you are in the mood for new friendships, you can understand a lot about a person based on what they drink.
Generally speaking, those who drink wine are considered more refined than those who drink beer, especially if they are able to pair it with food. If a man drinks beer on a first date, he is someone with few demands, a creature of habit and a good companion. If a woman does it, the message is clear: we are equals, and it is not a given that this will always make you feel at ease.
The situation is different when it comes to cocktails: there are dozens and dozens of them, and the choice often goes beyond personal taste. Depending on a person's favorite cocktail, you can understand a lot about their character.
Thanks to our partners, and the experience of many years of events, we have drawn up a list and chosen some of the most famous and most loved cocktails. This is not an exhaustive list, but a semi-serious guide (and no offense to expert mixologists!) on how much you can tell about a person based on what they drink.
What do you order?

Aperitif cocktails: Spritz, Americano, Negroni
Those who choose a typical cocktail for an aperitif are open-minded people who love spending time with friends and who maintain that “Time can be found, even just for an aperitif”. But even within this macro-category, things change depending on the alcohol content.
The lighter Spritz has now become fashionable. Originally from the Triveneto region, it is an aperitif within everyone’s reach, both for the cost of the ingredients and for its lightness. Those who choose it are people who always want to ride the wave, frequent the right places with the right people. Spritz exists in several variations, and if we continue in the wake of Campari, increasing the alcohol content we find the Americano. Those who order it love strong and not too sweet flavours, they like being in company, but still prefer “their round” to occasional meetings. Many people think that the Americano derives from the Negroni sbagliato, but it is the exact opposite: the Negroni owes its name to Count Camillo Negroni, who in the 1920s, in Florence, drank only Americano. One day he decided he needed a slightly different taste, and asked the barman Fosco Scarselli to replace the usual seltzer with a splash of gin. Scarselli perfected what he called “Americano alla moda del Conte Negroni”, today only Negroni. Those who choose it are almost always men, a determined type who loves strong flavors, and has his habits, which he could never give up.
Martini Cocktail, Vodka Martini
What elegance anyone has who orders a Martini! The glass in which it is served, which almost does not need to be tilted and requires small sips, is an incomparable accessory when sitting at a bar counter. How can we not think of James Bond, and his Vodka Martini (or Vesper), shaken and not stirred? But even a “simple” Martini Cocktail (or Martini Dry), Hemingway’s favorite mix, is something truly sophisticated. Decided for the strong presence of gin, it is appreciated equally by men and women. Above all, the green olive cannot be missing, which gives it that unique taste and helps in the gestures of an authentic and timeless seduction.
Tequila Sunrise, Piña Colada, Sex on the Beach
Very sweet cocktails, with exotic and seductive names. Those who choose them are usually exactly like that. A person who seeks affection and security, who is able to give sweetness and who would like to receive it in return. But she is also a very seductive person, she loves dancing, the sea and any situation that can make her meet new people, to discover, to conquer... Which is perfect, up to a certain age.
If those sipping these cocktails are "older" people, you are dealing with eternal adolescents, "I wobble but I don't give up" types who could prove unreliable in a relationship. In particular, if a man orders a Sex on the Beach after the age of 32, it is not because he loves its sugary taste: he probably does it only to impress the woman next to him thanks to the irreverent name of the cocktail. Red alert!

Gin Lemon, Vodka Lemon, Rum & Cola
It is very hard to tell who is in front of you if they are only holding a basic mix with a superfood and something fizzy in it. Someone who orders these cocktails at a bar might be a simple, lonely guy who doesn't like new friendships and would probably prefer to sit around sipping them without interacting. If, on the other hand, he orders them in a nightclub full of people, he is more likely to be a foodie who does not want to risk the bartender “getting his cocktail wrong” because of the rush and the amount of people at the bar. That these mixes fail is virtually impossible! So, if you want a person who can always find the simplest solution to any problem…here it is!
Today, then, several rather sought-after types of gin are very much in vogue, which mixology experts can flavor with cucumber slices, pink peppercorns or rosemary needles, you name it!
To the layman's eye, it might seem that more than a cocktail is being made into a chicken, but instead those who order these mixes have a very sophisticated allure. Will it be true or will it be the new radical chic trend?
Cocktail pestati: Mojito, Caipirinha, Caipiroska
Muddled cocktails immediately make you think of summer! Fresh taste, sweet taste without excess, straws and often decorations on the edge of the glass. Obviously, those who choose them are sunny personalities, lovers of company and music. In short: people who like to have fun in company. These are cocktails that meet everyone's taste, with a recipe that recalls the sun of their countries of origin. But be careful: if it's a love story you're looking for, you can't stop there. You'll have to invite him or her to a more intimate context to see how they behave (and what they drink) when they're not surrounded by so many people.
Moscow Mule and unusual glasses
Vodka, ginger beer and lime juice. With possible variations and mostly served in a copper cup. The Moscow Mule has been riding the wave for several years and many people have remained fond of it. A very fresh and thirst-quenching cocktail, given the low alcohol content, which dates back to the 1940s, during which it was served in copper cups, later replaced by the more readily available Old Fashioned Glass. Who orders it? A person who wants to feel cool and original, perhaps with a refined touch. Even here, however, the radical chic alarm is just around the corner! How can you tell? Also look at how he prefers the cocktail to be served. Today, glasses seem to be on the way to extinction: cups, jars without caps, fake-vintage bottles with a hole in the lid and a straw in the middle, even laboratory test tubes! All delicious and very creative, but if it's an authentically refined person you want, then he'll know that every cocktail has its own glass, without too many frills.
